The top drive drilling system is an important part of modern drilling system. The application of the top drive improves drilling efficiency and enhances the security of the drilling operation. It can greatly improve the drilling process and provide technical support for complex wells and large displacement wells.In combination with the top drive mechanical structure and function characteristics, the integrated design of the top drive control system and the configuration of the hardware of the control system are completed. The model selection and configuration of the control system master station, ontology station, MCC station, driller s station and other accessory station is completed. The PLC program to control the top drive is compiled. The top drive moniter system is designed using upper computer configuration software WinCC. In that way, the remote real time monitoring of the operate condition of the top drive system is realized.Secondly, the structure of the top drive and its working scene is modeled in detail using 3Ds Max. After the structure division of top drive model in interactive simulation system is completed, scripts for top drive model with building blocks is created using interactive simulation software Virtools. Through setting the trigger mode, adding collision detection, sound and visual control to drive the top drive model and complete the interactive virtual simulation system of top drive.Finally, a method of using serial communication technology to realize the control of the virtual model motion based on PLC control system is proposed. The data transmission between PLC and Virtools is realized. It is universial to control the movement of the 3D model through the serial port communication technology and has certain application value for the development of PLC teaching and digital prototype research.
