Water pollution has been one of the most difficult problems for a long time. Heavy metals and organic dyes are the main pollutant. In this article, a series of new cost-effective adsorbent materials were synthesized for adsorbing heavy metals and organic dyes with tourmaline for its spontaneous polarization property and graphene oxide for its adsorption property.In this thesis, reflux condenser and hydrothermal methods were used to prepare a series of tourmaline/graphene-based composite adsorbent. The composite adsorbent were characterized by XRD, XPS, Raman, TEM, FTIR, far infrared emission. And the adsorptive property was investigated with ICP-AES and UV-vis spectrophotometer. The best preparation methods were explored. Langmuir isotherm model was used to study adsorption mechanism of the prepared tourmaline/graphene-based composite adsorbent.Studies have shown that the sulfur content is higher for tourmaline/sulfur contained graphene oxide prepared by hydrothermal method and that the adsorptive property for Hg2+ is better. Sample modified by Na2S·9H2O and catalyzed by BiCl3 performed best. The equilibrium adsorption capacity was 559.80 mg/g.Tourmaline/graphene oxide compound prepared by reflux condenser method performed well at high concentration in the methylene blue. When the ratio of tourmaline and graphene oxide is 1:10, the removal efficiency of methylene blue is 0.25% higher than that of graphene oxide. Batch adsorption experiments showed that the adsorption of methylene blue onto Tourmaline/graphene oxide matched well with the Langmuir model and freundlich model respectively. And the maximum adsorption capacity is 7.407 g/g.
