The shearer is the key of the comprehensive mechanized coal mining equipment.Because of its complex structure and the working condition not only the fault forms of the shearer are polymorphic and concealment, but it has stronger uncertainty between fault type and symptom, which presents the corresponding nonlinear relationship. The rough set theory is a mathematical tool which describes the uncertainty and fuzzinessis, applied to the fault diagnosis of the shearer, aiming to explore an effective method of coal mining machine fault diagnosis. The main content of the research are as follows:With taking the shearer’s cutting bearing as the object of the research, it establishes the decision table of fault diagnosis and acquires its rules by attribute discretization, attribute reduction and value reduction. Aiming at the problem of the traditional discretization method not to find suitable segmentation breakpoints, the optimization algorithm of artificial fish is introduced into seek the optimal segmentation breakpoints, which is taken as an optimal index.It will realize the continuous attribute discretization and form the discrete decision table based on the intelligent bionic algorithm. To solve the problem of the general attribute reduction method not to get accurate set of properties, the optimization algorithm of artificial fish is introduced into seek the most valuable condition attribute set. And it will realize the discrete attributes reduction of decision table and form the reduction decision table by the binary processing. It will adopt the general value reduction algorithm to reduct attribute value of the decision table reduction and sum up out of the decision rules of the fault diagnosis. Finally,for the convenience of users’ operation and acquisition of diagnosis rule, it will design and debug a overall scheme for the system of the fault diagnosis of the shearer. The interface debugging results show that the method of fault diagnosis of the coal mining machine has a certain feasibility and effectiveness based on rough set.The method of fault diagnosis based on rough set can be used for the shearer’s fault diagnosis quickly and accurately, which is of the great significance to improve the reliabilityof coal mining machine and prolong its life span.
