The antioxidant activity, hypoglycemic activity and hypolipidemic activity of different fractions of Visum ardiculatum in vitro were investigated and the correlation between these three activities and main substances were determinded in this paper.Visum ardiculatum was extracted by water bath and ultrasonic, and its four fractions of chloroform, ethyl acetate, n-butanol, and water were prepared. The receiving rates of water bath is higher than ultrasonic, especially that of water crude extract by water bath reached 67.54%. The free-amino acid, total polyphenol, flavonoids and alkaloids contents of Visum ardiculatumwas258.49 mg/100 g,1990.27 mg/100 g,1430.42 mg/100 g å'Œ 202.83 mg/100 g. The content of tea polysaccharides reached 5468.08mg/100 g, which was higher compared to other tea.The antioxidant activity of Visum ardiculatum in vitro were revealed through the scavenging effects of different parts of Visum ardiculatum on DPPH radical, ABTS radical, superoxide anion and hydroxyl radical and FRAP value. The synthetical value calculated by fuzzy assessment and principal component analysis. The results showed that the antioxidant activity of Visum ardiculatum in vitro is potent. The scavenging effects of all the fractions on ABTS radical reached 98%, that of DPPH radical reached 88%. The synthetical value calculated by fuzzy assessment are respective of the 5 antioxidant assays, the highest is 4.66 of water extracts by water bath, the lowest was 0.21 of chloroform fraction. The antioxidant activity in vitro was largely due to the total polyphenol and flavonoids contents. The hypoglycemic activity of Visum ardiculatum in vitro were indicated by the inhibition activity to α-amylase and α-glucosidase. The inhibition types of different fractions of Visum ardiculatum on α-amylase and α-glucosidase were determinded through Lineweave-Burk plots. Ki value of different fractions of Visum ardiculatum were determinded through Dixon plots. The result was that the inhibition activity of crude extracts of water and ethanol in high concentration to α-amylase reached 90%, that to α-glucosidase was below 70%. The inhibition types and inhibition activities of different fractions of Visum ardiculatum were not positively connected. The inhibition activity to α-amylase are significantly correlated with the total polyphenol contents, the inhibition activity to α-glucosidase are significantly correlated with the main substances contents except alkaloids. The hypolipidemic activity of Visum ardiculatum in vitro were reflected by the binding capacity of different fractions to STC(sodium taurocholate), SGC(sodium glycholate),SDC(sodium deoxycholate). The result shows that the colestyramine equivalent binding rates of crude ethanol extracts by ultrasonic to STC was 98%, that of crude water extracts by water bath and ultrasonic to SDC was 104.57% and 101.45%. The binding capacity of fractions extracted by ultrasonic was better than by water bath to STC and SGC. To SDC, the way of extraction make no difference to binding capacity. The rank of the synthetical value calculated by fuzzy assessment and principal component analysis was the same. The highest was 94.92 of water extracts by ultrasonic, the lowest was 26.56 of chloroform fraction by water bath. The hypolipidemic activity in vitro was significantly correlated with the total polyphenol and flavonoids contents.
