Four series, twenty kinds, ofβ-diketone complexes of rare earth were synthesized with the frist ligands of 4-tert-butyl-4’-methoxy dibenzoyl methane (BMDBM) or dibenzoyl methane(DBM), with the second ligands of 2,2’-bipyridyl(Bipy) or 1,10-Phenanthroline(Phen), they.are RE(DBM)3Bipy, RE(DBM)3Phen, RE(BMDBM)3Bipy, RE(BMDBM)3 Phen (RE:La、Sm、Eu、Gd、Tb), and in which ten compounds with the frist ligands of 4-tert-butyl-4’-methoxy dibenzoyl methane (BMDBM) and the second ligands of 2,2’-bipyridyl(Bipy) or 1,10-Phenanthroline(Phen). have not been reported in present references, The compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectra. and mass spectrum.The basic properties, such as thermostability, dissolubility in different solvents, electronic absorption spectra, fluorescence luminescence spectra, of these compounds were investigated. Fluorescence quantum yields of the compounds were obtained. The influences of the central rare earth metal ions, the ligands on the properties mentioned above were discussed. It was indicated that some of the compounds may be potential candidates for fluorescence luminescence materials.
