Submarine high voltage cable is an important component of the Offshore wind farmfor power transmission. So the safe operation of the high-voltage undersea cable on thepower system is critical. In order to better determine the selection requirements of the high voltagesubmarine cable of the wind farms, the corresponding submarine cable simulation modelis built using PSCAD/EMTDC software. The simulation aimed at electro-magnetictransient process of the different characteristics, including switching surge powerfrequency overvoltage, lightning overvoltage. And consider the above three overvoltage tothe cable insulation at different system conditions. In switching surge, focused on theinfluence to overvoltage by using closing resistance. In lightning overvoltage, focused onthe lightning intruding to transmission lines. The simulation results show that thesubmarine cable structure parameters of each layer have the influence to the submarinecable electro-magnetic transient. And the influence of the conductor layer, insulation layer,HDPE layer is especially remarkable. In addition, the material of the sheath layer and themain insulation layer has electro-magnetic transient influence. This research offered somereferences for the offshore wind farms and high voltage submarine cable selection.According to the distributed optical fiber sensor monitoring methods, finite elementsoftware ANSYS was used to establish XLPE high-pressure submarine cable model. Thesimulation analysis the change of the internal physical quantities, by simulating differentsubmarine cable fault forms. This simulation provided the reference for online monitoringrunning state by distributed optical fiber sensor. Finally, for the utilization of these featurequantities and improving the fault location precision, a information fusion model were putforward according to the simulation results.
