Thermal power generation has long been the main resource in power source structure,which is directly related to the normal supply of electricity for the city. Therefore it mustrequire higher seismic standards in order to ensure the safety of engineering structures. Inrecent years, with the loader group size and the number of power plants in high-intensityregion increasing,the traditional reinforced concrete frame structure existed many problems,such as: too large section of the bottom column、excessive axial compression ratios, whichhave been difficult to meet the requirements. With the rapid development of steel structure inour country, more and more large-scale thermal power of main plants use it.Process layout of large-scale thermal power main plant was complex, and floor layoutwas irregular, which belong to stiffness and mass distribution severely uneven structures.Therefore its structural design was more complex and required taking many factors intoaccount. The main research for the large thermal power main plants usually focuses on how asingle factor influence the overall performance of the structure, such as one node orsupporting. However for the affecting of coupling multiple factors studied less. This papersummarizes the past design experience of main steel plant in large thermal power. On thebasis of them,taking a common double steel frame thermal power plant with coal bunker as amodel,the structural materials selection、 structural system、design of the node junction、length coefficient of frame column and etc. are researched involved in the model. Meanwhile,some design suggestions are put forward improve the safety of these structures. Theconclusions of this text not only can provide more reasonable theoretical basis for suchstructures designing, but also can be a referenced design for the similar structures.
