Concrete faced rockfill dam have many advantages, such as easily obtained, safeand feasible, affordable, savings cement compared to concrete dam, convenientconstruction and so on. More and more people are concerned about it. Faced rockfilldam in China started late, but rapid development. In nearly three decades, China hasestablished more than100dams. According to " The300m high CFRD adaptabilityand Countermeasures " strategic approach, our country has higher requirements onConcrete faced rockfill dam. This article prepared structural optimization design OnCFRD both in the CFRD shape and rockfill material partition.As the dam has complex structure, longer duration, large projects, and so on, it isdifficult to study in experimentally at home and more people study it by computersimulation. Model of this paper is come from the CFRD of Heiquan Reservoir. Thispaper use contrast experiments by changing the face rockfill dam on the downstreamand upstream slope and rockfill material partition to the dam structure optimization.In the computer, comparative experiments is by achieved by the parametric designlanguage of ANSYS software. This paper has two major areas to study. On one hand,the CFRD of Heiquan Reservoir is simulated three-dimensional model, in order toobtain reliable material data. On the other hand, based on obtained material data, it iscreated a two-dimensional model to optimize the CFRD dimensions and rockfillmaterial partition.In the two-dimensional simulation of the process, by changing the upstreamslope, downstream slope and the primary and secondary rockfill material dividing lineslope, it is created different models to be simulated by the deformation and stress ofthe comparison of simulation results to determine the optimal size. The resultsshowed that the dam structure optimization is practicable by using ANSYS,Optimized dimensions can reduce the amount of deformation of the dam, also canmake the stress distribution is more reasonable, and partition of CFRD size androckfill material dam deformation and stress have a certain impact.
