Water-lubricated rubber alloy bearing are non-metallic bearings lubricated withwater. They have been widely used in military and civilian vessels for its goodlubricating performance and environmental friendliness. Water lubricated rubberbearings is an important part of ship propulsion system, its performance has animportant influence on ships rapidity, safety, economy and so on. However,water-lubricated bearing’s friction noise at boot, start and stop phases has seriouslyaffected the safety and service life of the bearings. Hence theoretical and experimentalstudy on bearing mechanism of friction noise is of great theoretical and pratical value.This article has illustrated the experimental study on water lubricated rubber alloybearing lubrication and friction noise from the condition, structure, water lubricatingmedium.Based on the analysis of the influence of water lubricated rubber bearingslubrication and friction noise performance,we designed the lubrication and frictionnoise performance testing program of water lubricated rubber alloy bearing. Theprogram uses the friction coefficient as an index characterizing of the bearinglubrication properties; Using the acceleration signal and the sound pressure signalquantization bearings noise. Use friction and wear tester, triaxial acceleration sensor andsound level meters and other equipment to get the key indicators coefficient of frictionof the bearing, vibration and structural noise state.For water-lubricated bearing lubrication performance, we have done a lot ofexperimental study on friction coefficient of bearing; discussed the different influenceson friction coefficient effected by different conditions, structures and lubricating watersediment concentration of the salinity; studied the impact of various causes andmechanism; compared the different structures of the bearing lubrication performancesand pointed out the measures to improve the structure of lubrication performance.Under the test friction noise in full and poor lubrication states, we analyzed theinfluences situation on bearing noise by different conditions, structures and waterlubricating media. The result shows that under full lubrication, bearing vibration has ahigh degree of regularity with the effecting factors; under poor lubrication, frictionnoise appear very randomly. The experimental study in this article provides a frame ofreference for the water lubricated rubber alloy shaft vibration and noise reduction design.
