At present, the scale of the domestic ultra-high voltage power transmission andtransformation lines test project is increasing day by day, the structure form and the costof transmission tower is getting more complex and larger. The traditional design canensure the safety of the structure of the system, but the economy really needs to beimproved. Therefore, the design of structure optimization has important engineeringsignificance and economic value by reducing the amount of steel used in transmissiontower structure.In this paper, the Hami South to Zhengzhou±800kV HVDC transmission projectis researched as the engineering background, on the basis of extensive reading relevantliterature, the double column suspended guyed tower is being optimized by usingimmune genetic algorithm(IGA), in order to reducing the mass of steel used in guyedtower, the initial cable tension and the cross-sectional dimensions are optimizedhierarchically. The economic value of guyed tower has been improved significantly.First of all, the study on optimization methods and basic principles has been made,the results of structural stress analysis should be known to compare with the constraints,so using MATLAB software to program by myself to analysis the geometric nonlinearof double column suspended guyed tower, and its results are verified by ANSYS finiteelement program.The establishment of a cable-stayed space truss model, a clearobjective function,a mathematical model of optimization, these steps are necessary torealize the optimization on initial cable tension and cross-sectional demission. Theresult comparison between IGA and standard genetic algorithm (GA) reflect theadvantages of IGA, which can accelerate convergence to global optimal solution.Then, the appropriate simplification has been made on the actual cable towerstructure, space truss structure are used to simulate the cable tower columns, and twonodes link element is used to simulate cable element. established a finite element modelof cable tower. In case of cable tower configuration and topology node coordinates havebeen determined, using procedures already prepared to complete initial cable tensionoptimization and the corresponding cross-sectional dimension optimization. In thisprocess, the initial tension cable is not related to the objective function directly, but theinitial cable tension variable is regarded as a constraint to deal with the entireoptimization process, by changing the cross section of the column model to automatically select the optimal cross-section, reduce the amount of steel significantly,and achievesatisfactory optimization rate, not only ensure the safety of the guyed towerstructure, but also improve its economy.
