Multi-project And Multi-resource Critical Chain Project Schedule Plan Method

Due to the expansion of project organizations and the increasingly severe situation ofresource constraints, one project will fight for the use of the bottleneck resource with otherprojects. So when making schedule plan of a project, the manager should not only consider thesituation of the project itself but also the whole benefit of the projects group. Based on themulti-resource and multi-project constraint of the project environment as well as the method ofCritical Chain Project Management, the article aims at breaking these constraints. Time Axiscritical chain project schedule plan is presented in the article to solve the problems ofmulti-resource and multi-project. Specifically, the method of single-project critical chain projectmanagement is introduced in the article firstly, then by the introduction of Time Axis criticalchain project schedule plan, the article make research of multi-project problems. During theprocess of the research, the switching time of bottleneck resources among parallel projects isadded in resource buffers as bridges to connect the projects and the way to choose the best one ofdifferent switching schemes is presented. Then a general method to solve the problem ofmulti-resource constraints is introduced. At last, the method presented in the article is applied tomake schedule plan for a practical case based on the project management information system ofnational xxx project, which supplies as a confirmation for the practical use of the theory in thearticle.
