Water plays, an important role in our daily life, is the foundation of the nationallife and lifeblood, water treatment plants became the most important part of urbanconstruction. Since the first Chinese poplar distributes water factory built in Shanghaiin1883, with the progress of modern science and technology, from manual tosemi-automatic and automatic now with data acquisition and monitoring waterworksautomation system (SCADA), Water plant water treatment system is changed. Takingthe automation improvement of Nanchang airport’s project in the second phase as anexample, the paper proposes systematically illustrates some approaches for theimprovement of the automation of old waterworks and some control strategies for theautomation improvement of the old waterworks. It provides some reference for theautomation improvement of middle and small and medium-sized waterworks. The paper is focused on the specific analysis of the chemical dosing system, chlorine dosing system and constant pressure water supply system in the watertreatment plant. In chemical dosing system, it uses the improvement method based onPLC single factor system, which not only saves the improvement cost but alsoimproves the effect of the dosing coagulation. In the chlorine dosing system, byreferring relevant material, the paper illustrates the distributed chlorine dosingstrategy and improves the chlorine dosing accuracy in the chlorine dosing accuracyand the improvement methods for the constant pressure water supply system. Finally, design the hardware and software of the water SCADA system according to the actualsituations of Changbei airport.
