Three-phase to single-phase matrix converter (3-1MC) will play an important role inhousehold-type independent power systems or specific industrial sectors, such as in wind powergeneration system or gas engine cogeneration system, it can control permanent magnet synchronousgenerator directly, and provide AC source for single phase equipment. However, Matrix Converter hasno dc link capacitor, and its input and output have directly coupled. The load side interference willdirectly affect the input side of the performance, especially for single-stage single-phase matrixconverter.Therefore, this paper presents an improved topology for three-phase to single-phase matrixconverter with a small power decoupling capacitor. Active power decoupling technique is thatsingle-phase parallel a group of power switches and a small capacitance energy storage element, bymodulating the power switch makes the power pulsation completely inflow energy storage element, aconstant power is completely provided by the three-phase side, such three-phase side to powerpulsation in single-phase side separated from each other, it is easy to achieve unity PFC. Theimproved3-1MC increases power switches which have effects on closed loop control strategy.Thus, the article proposed a novel control system based on virtual dc link voltage feedback by usingthe decoupled small signal dynamic model which is deduced from the gradually simplified averagesignal model. In addition, the method for calculating PI parameters of the control system has beenoptimized.Finally, the3-1MC simulation model is established in Matlab/Simulink, and the prototypesystem of MC is designed. As a result, serial experiments have been conducted and approve that theresults show that the power decoupling method and control strategy are practically correct andfeasible.
