Two-Stage-Matrix-Converter (TSMC) is a new kind of direct AC/AC converter with the featureof compact size, adjustable input power factor and bidirectional power flow. It can achieve sinusoidalinput and output waveforms simultaneously. When TSMC is used in starter/generator system, systemreliability and power density can improved greatly compared with system with traditional AC/DC/ACconverter. This paper focuses on the control technologies of generation in starter/generator systemwith TSMC.Modulation strategy is the core of MC control strategies. In this paper, the double space vectorpulse width modulation and carrier-based modulation is fully studied, which are frequently used inrecent research. An improved carrier-based modulation strategy is proposed to satisfy the need ofadjustable input power factor, under which condition negative voltage may appear at the DC side.Closeloop control method is adopted in order to improve the quality of output voltage. In order toimprove the generation efficiency while the speed of motor varies, a method that make TSMC work inthe power factor correction mode is proposed through closeloop control of input reactive power, withwhich the generator can work just providing the active power for the load. The model of thegeneration system based on TSMC is built in MATLAB/Simulink environment, and the feasibility ofimproved carrier-based modulation strategy, control method of output voltage and input reactivepower is validated through simulations results. Finally, experimental platform of TSMC based on digital signal processor (DSP) and complexprogrammable logic device (CPLD) is built. Numerous experiment is done to verify the feasibility ofproposed control method in this paper. |
