As the traditional monitoring system has certain limitations, it is difficult to fulfill needs of today’s train operation. Besides, the old system deficiencies frequently exposed, and the new technologies continue to arise, indicating an urgent demand to train control system upgrade.Based on the past structure of the system, the newest technology which ensures that the new generation system conform to the needs of railway operations is put into the system boldly. The new train monitoring system consists of three main parts:the new LKJ, BDR and stable DTU.Firstly, the paper describes the LJK2000briefly, and then presents the new LKJ which provides much improvement in structure and function. Secondly, it represents the design of the BDR in the structure, hardware part and software part. In order to save cost and meet the needs of communication, the MCU with the kernel of Cortex-MO is designed into BDR, the its main job is to communicate with the BDM100, the data get from BDM100will be reconstituted, and it can turns the data into IRIG-B interface data and RS-232interface data which can be recognized by DTU. Subsequently, it details how to design a stable DTU. In hardware, in order to maintain stability of DTU, using the classical ARM9core chip-AT91SAM9260, and its peripheral circuits is designed with sophisticated circuit; in software, the DTU runs the Linux operating system. In order to increase the flexibility and scalability of DTU, the core board and the backplane separate from each other. The DTU has a variety of common communication interfaces such as RS-232, RS-485, CAN,3G, USB and RJ45, etc. Moreover, the Linux operating system can be cut and it has rich device drivers to ensure that the DTU hardware is more easily extended.It is demonstrated by experiments, the BDR can get the current latitude and longitude coordinates accurately, moreover, it can time to the other equipment, and the packet loss rate and the failure rate of DTU is very low, it runs stablely for a long time.
