Under some urban ground, there are all kinds of oil and gas pipelines. These underground dangerous gas pipelines are closely related to the safety of people’s life and property, especially in the residential area. In recent years, gas pipeline explosion events happen Occasionally, thus the management of urban hazardous gas detection is significant. Conventional dangerous gas detection system are fixed, with high cost and low efficiency. According to the above problem, this paper designed a mobile system for detecting dangerous gas in the city.The system can detect dangerous gas, locate risk address, query remote information, send alarm messages and view image information. The system consists of mobile terminal and embedded server. Systems are integrated in the method of functional modules. Software design of Mobile terminal includes the development environment and Linux system, driver development and application development. Mobile terminal is used to detect dangerous gas, GPS latitude and longitude and image data, and send to the embedded server through GPRS.AS the central part, embedded server is responsible for receiving and processing all the data. This paper discusses the main implementation of embedded server software. In the design concept of lightweight, based on Linux system and BOA server, the software part implements a B/S architecture of remote monitoring system, through Web development technique, the CGI interface technology and SQLite database technology. This paper explains in detail the process of latitude and longitude reverse address resolution, realizing the transformation from GPS latitude and longitude to geographical address information. Finally debugging of whole system hardware and software is carried, and the results show that the designed system can effectively present state of dangerous gases and geographical address, achieving the desired aims. The system is efficient, less resource consumption, small and light, thus it deserves popularization in the design of urban gas detection.
