| The ordinary provincial road networkof Guangdong Province was established in1989.Atfer being named, identified and adjusted, the layout and scale of Ordinary Provincial roadnetwork was finalized and determinedin1996. In order to keep pace with the social andeconomic development, and develop the transport in a sustainable manner at the nationalstrategy level, Ministry of Transport started organizing compiling the National HighwayPlanning, thereby optimizing and implementing the national arterial highway network. Due tothe significant adjustments which have been made toward this planning, approximately38%of current provincial road will be categorized under national highway planning, the functionand form of traiffc network. As result, an in-depth study into adjustments of the provincialroad network planning in order to satisfy the latest social and economic development andrequirements, guide the development of provincial arterial road network more effectively.This research is on the basis of both relative domestic and overseas researches. Bycollecting data and utility materials, this essay will firstly analysis the current challenges andrequirements faced by transport development in Guang Dong Province, and then predict thefuture traiffc demand, through evaluating the latest development of arterial road network. Thisessay also will provide a functional identification, feasible planning and reasonable scalemeasuring. Besides, the essay will argue that the plan of developing and implementingprovincial road network should be on the basis of current the road network, and refereeing theNational Road Network Planning,in this way, a reasonable budget and land consumption ofthe new planning can be achieved. Further more, this essay will evaluate the future network interms of entire scale, connection situation and channel that leading outside the province.
