As energy issues become more prominent, the oil price become higher and higher, thetraditional heat engine is facing an unprecedented energy crisis. Research in the multi-fuelenergy Stirling engine has great significance in solving the energy crisis and reduceenvironmental pollution. In recent years, the cogeneration systems with the Stirling engine asthe core unit developed rapidly in Europe, but in China, the Stirling engine research is still inits infancy, and the development of a Stirling engine combined heat and power system is morescarce. Therefore, the Stirling engine running simulation, design and development ofnatural-gas-based Stirling engine cogeneration system is very necessary. This graduation project topic studied four Stirling engine cycle analysis method, bycontrast showed that, practical isothermal analysis can simply and accurately analyze thevarious conditions of the Stirling engine, this is the most appropriate method to preliminaryestimate the power and efficiency of the Stirling engine.Based on the practical isothermal analysis, considering the flow resistance causedworking fluid loss in the circulation, and a variety of heat loss, a model for analyzing andcalculating the four-cylinder and double-acting Stirling engine work cycle can be created. With this model, various operating parameters of the four cylinder and the different parts ofthe work cycle were got.The simulation of double-acting cylinder Stirling engine work cycle can be programmedas a software, with this software, a four-cylinder double-acting Stirling engine developed byShanghai MicroPowers Ltd. has been simulated, the effects of the hot zone and cold zonetemperature, circulation pressure and dead volume and other parameters of the working cyclewere also checked, the results showed that with the heat input161.939kW, the engineeffective power was51.379kW, the output power was47.781kW, heater and cooler heatcapacities were140.887kW and83.257kW, engine effective efficiency and power generationefficiency were0.317and0.295.A four-cylinder double-acting Stirling engine developed by Shanghai MicroPowers Ltd.were experimental tested in this study, the experimental results were compared with the same simulation model built in this study, the results showed the value of simulation model andexperimental test matched with each other, meanwhile, on this basis, took advantage ofenergy "cascade utilization" mechanism, designed a Stirling engine-based combined heat andpower system.
