The single vibratory road rollers are indispensable compaction equipments in roadsconstruction, mainly used for the compaction of base, sub-base and fill. Practical experienceshows that the foundation bearing capacity will increase by10%with the base compactiondegree increased by1%. Thus the compaction degree of base, sub-base and fills has a veryimportant role in base bearing capacity and service life of highway. There are two kinds ofdrive modes about single vibratory road rollers, and the research of performance contrastanalysis between both mechanical single drive and full hydrostatic double drive provided thereference when selecting and using single vibratory road rollers in roads construction. This paper according to the domestic two manufacturers of performance parameters ofsingle vibratory road rollers counted、analyzed and determined a contrast model withequivalent compaction capacity quite:26tons of mechanical single drive type and20tons offull hydrostatic double drive type single vibratory road rollers, In order to accurately compareto two prototypes of compaction job performance and climbing traction performance, therelevant main performance parameters of the test had been analyzed. Then based on the experimental study and theoretical analysis, the two prototypes ofcompaction operation performance and the traction performance grade had been analyzedcontrastively. In the compaction work performance contrast, firstly the vibration compactionmechanism of the soil and physical properties parameters related to compaction wasintroduced. Then the impact of quality parameters of single vibratory road rollers andvibration parameters, drive modes and compaction speed on the quality of its compactionwork were theoretically analyzed and optimum moisture content and maximum dry density ofthe soil used for test was determined by the compaction test. Finally experimental studyanalyzed the contrast of soil compaction degree and compaction uniformity, surfaceroughness after the two prototypes compacted same test soil under optimum conditionIn traction climbing performance contrast, firstly power distribution between front andrear wheels of hydraulic double drive type single drum vibratory roller was introduced, andthe power radius of the driving wheel was calibrated, then slope performance of twoprototypes determined by biggest driving force, the maximum adhesion and slope stabilitywas contrastively analyzed, and Finally the varieties of traction in the process of forward andbackward traction was contrastively analyzed by maximum traction test of two prototypes, and maximum grade-ability was validated. Finally the performance of two prototypes starting with vibration and parking withvibration stops, operation performance, intelligent monitoring and automatic controlperformance, working condition performance, and security and operating cost and so on wascontrastively analyzed.
