Recently, the disaster of ground fracture is more and more seriously for destroying building structures in Xi’an. However there is not so many researches for building structures in thearea of ground fracture zone, especially for the frame-shear wall structure. Therefore, there issome practical significance for analysis the impact of frame-shear wall structure due to differential settlement of ground fracture. In this paper, a15-storey frame-shear wall structure was used as an example based on theFEM (Finite element modeling anlysis) software. According to the size of opening anddifferent setting out,7groups FEM were built. The impact of structural internal force wereanalysed due to differential settlement of ground fracture, and the response of structuralinternal force in the case of different opening size and setting out were also researched.Through the elastic FEM analysis for the structure, the main conclusions are as follows:1. In the crack affected zone, the internal forece of frame-shear wall reduce first and thenreverse the increase as the avoidance distance decreases,It was found that the size and settingout of opening did not affect the trend of structural internal force.2. The opening ratio of shear wall increased the lateral displacement of structure andstorey drift were increased. However, when the structure was more and more close to theground fracture. The incline of structure was reduced due to the opening; the increase ofopening ratio, the reduction of shear force of beam and column will be, the other internalforce also reduce around the range of distance in the ground fracture. The maximum internalforces transfer from beam and column to wall piers. The critical sections are I the bottomstorey of shear wall, both sides of bottom storey beams, columns.3. Changes in setting out of opening in the ground fracture will increase the maximumlateral displacement of the structure and storey drift between the distance to19m~14m, theywere reduced within13m; it is small impact for the internal force of structural beams, columns due to the changes of setting out of opening.4. The internal forces of shear wall in the same direction of vertical ground fracture willbe easy to happen to abrupt change.5. The distance within ground fracture happened between19m to17m, the maximumlateral displacement and maximum storey drift angle can be meet thc requirement of code. There is valueable information for engineering design of frame-shear wall structure inground fracture from research result of this paper...
