With the rapid development of embedded technology, embedded system has beenemphasized and applied in many fields. A new generation monitoring system having anARM microprocessor and Linux operating system emerges as the times require.Low-voltage circuit breaker is an important control and protection equipment which playsan important role in maintaining electric power system’s safe, stable and reliable operation.Therefore, in this article, a new intelligent controller of low-voltage circuit breaker basedon Linux embedded system was put forward.The intelligent controller which uses the Samsung’s S3C2440as the primary processorand Linux as the embedded system was designed. The intelligent controller has manyfunctions, such as measurement, protection, monitoring, cummunication and so on.Moreover, the design not only can measure the electrical parameters, but also can monitormechnical parameters on line. In Programming, QtE is adopted as the tool to design userinterface, because it has a lot of advantages in Embeded GUI design.In this article, the protection principle and algorithm of intelligent controller isresearched in detail at first. Then the software and hardware is designed. The hardware isbased on S3C2440incorporated with peripheral extended circuit. The real-time collectionincluding the current and voltage of power system, the current of switching and openingcoil and the length of moving contact travel are accomplished by signal acquisition circuit.The software is mainly under the Linux System to carry on a development involving therelevant drivers and application. The drivers of ADC, LCD, Network and Serial aretransplanted, and signal collection of the power System is implemented. In the end, theprogram is compiled, which contains the data analysis, fault treatment, switching andopening processing communication with internet and the design of graphical interfaces.Thus, the intelligent controller satisfies the entire requirement.For the communication function of the circuit breaker, this design uses a widely usedcommunication way of TCP Ethernet and transports message with Modbus protocol. Thishas realized two-way communication between intelligent controller and PC, and alsoconducive to PC carries out centralized momitoring and management for intelligent circuitbreakers.Finally, by testing and adjusting the system again and again, the intelligent controllerwhich is designed in this article has proved that it has excellent performance. As a matter of fact, the controller can complete each function accurately; therefore, it has achieved all ofthe acceptance requirements of the project.
