With the rapid development of modern society, the level of electrical intelligent becomes higher. Application of low voltage circuit breaker in the electric network and various electrical equipment to overload, short circuit and grounding fault is increasingly important. The development of the core part of intelligent circuit breaker become quickly. The stability, instantaneity, and versatility of intelligent release device can guarantee various functions of breaker to be come true. The design of intelligent release in high-end research has a very significant engineering application prospects and academic value.In this paper, intelligent release for low voltage circuit breaker is designed, which is based on S3C2440A micro-controller and the embedded real time multi-task operating system Linux. The release designed carries out the functions of overload current protection, short circuit current protection, grounding protection, LCD parameter displaying, parameter setting, communicating control as well as low voltage network power quality monitoring.On the hardware design, micro-controller S3C2440A is adopted as the central controlling unit. The hardware system also includes parameter sampling circuit, LCD Parameter displaying circuit, key parameter setting circuit, action performing circuit and communicating interface circuit. The hardware system could support operation of Linux system.On the software design, we developed an embedded platform based on the embedded Linux operating system. The transplantations of Linux kernel and file system are completed, as well as development of driver and application program, which include overload current protection, short circuit current protection, grounding protection, LCD parameter displaying, parameter setting, communicating control and so on.The design makes full use of multi-process and the real time characteristic of Linux, meeting requirements of high reliability, real-time, multi-function, and providing tremendous space for promotion of release.
