LED lighting is an emerging lighting technology. LED lighting intelligent control system is a research hotspot. Traditional wired lighting control technology has wiring difficulties and poor scalability shortcomings. This paper focuses on wireless networking and wireless node hardware and software design issues in LED road lighting intelligent control systems.This paper analyzes the problems currently existing in lighting control technology, and summarizes the classification of wireless network protocols. According to the characteristics of road lighting system, this paper analyzes the characteristics of the network topology in streetlights. Covering algorithm is proposed under the mesh topology occasions, link occasions and dual-link occasions. It analyzes the impact of topological coverage on network performance, mainly in network throughput and latency.Based on Topology coverage algorithms and ZigBee protocol, an improved protocol called CZBR protocol is proposed. CZBR is built on the basis of ZigBee routing protocol. In CZBR network, the nodes compare topological coverage and preset coverage to determine whether to open routing function. This allows, while maintaining a low degree of coverage can be enhanced network redundancy, to maintain high throughput.Wireless nodes is designed for road lighting applications. When testing, the transmission power of node is16dBm. Topology of the network can be observed through software. ZBR protocol and CZBR protocol were transplanted into NS2software platform. a variety of wireless networking topology about streetlights was built in NS2simulation environment. The simulation shows, CZBR protocol has a higher throughput than ZBR protocol.
