Reinforced Concrete column and Steel beams composite frame structure (RCScomposite structure) is a new structural system, which can make full use of the steel andconcrete in their bearing capacity and economic aspect. Because of the complexity ofRCS composite frame joint in its measures and mechianism, at present there is no untiedshear bear capacity tormula for this kind of the joint. In this paper, some researcthes onthe shear capacity of RCS composite joint is developed. In this paper, the typical structure of RCS composite joints is introduced and theconstruct measures which are more commonly used in joint area is summarized, such asface bearing plate, stirrups, steel band plate and steel column panel and so on. Then thepanel shear failure model and bearing failure model is studied, two kinds of failuremodel including part of the shear failure and combined failure of beam-joint that basedon experimental data is put forward. The mechanism of joint based on these failuremodes is analyzed. The typical formula of the different mechanisms of the failure modeis introduced and analyzed.8typical groups shear capacity formula for RCS composite joints are collected inChina and abroad, respectively in the source of the formula, composition and coefficientvalues. Ant the scope of application is pointed out. At the same time, a large number ofexperimental datas of the RCS composite frame joint are collected, by use of the8groups of formula, calculation results and test results are comparatively analyzed. Thenan improved formula of bearing capacity, in the case of shear failure, is put forward.16experimental data is used to analyze and verify the accuracy and applicability of the proposed formula. In addition, the contribution to the shear bearing capacity of the steelweb, concrete and stirrup in the joint area is analyzed, respectively. It is concluded thatsteel web and concrete in joint area contribute much to the shear bearing capacity. Thepercentage can reach to more than95%.The RCS joints test conducted by our research group is introduced. And the bearingcapacity, skelecton curves are introduced and analyzed. The improved formula is usedto calculate the capacity, and it is compared with the experimental results, the resultsshow that, the applicability of the proposed formula is well.
