Automatic mechanical transmission (AMT) has inherited the advantages ofmechanical transmission such as high efficiency, easy manufacture and low cost, henceits popularity in our country and even the world. Being the executing part of AMT, theshift actuator controls the gearbox to shift gears of AMT. Focusing on ZD6S1000transmission, this paper designed and manufactured a set of electrically controlled andpowered AMT shift actuator, whose key components are revised, based on their actualfailure. The key components of the actuator are analyzed using FEA method.Firstly, to obtain the selecting and shifting resistance, the AMT transmission isstudied. By building and analyzing the model of the resistances, distribution curve of theresistances and the maximum values are obtained.Secondly, based on the results of the resistance analysis, the shift actuator isdesigned, including the design of the scheme, the selection of electric motors and sensors,and the design of key components. At the same time, by designing a set of experimentaldevise, the reliability of the theoretical arithmetic is verified, and precise boundaryconditions of the following FEA are provided.Lastly, the key components of the actuator are analyzed using FEA method. Theintensity, rigidity, performance under load and fatigue life of the nylon worm gear areanalyzed. At the same time, the shifting gear pair’s intensity, rigidity, and fatigue life areanalyzed. These FEA proved the revised design to be applicable.
