Battery is an important component to the direct-current (DC) power system. Thedamage of a single battery in serial batteries will affect the performance of the entire serialbattery, even lead to a breakdown of the entire power supply system, which makes themonitor of the battery necessary. The battery group connected by several batteries is usedin electric mobiles, electric bicycles and UPS, which requires the approximate performanceof each battery. But the difference of polar plate thickness and acid content of the batteryduring producing process will cause an inconformity of homogeneity. Therefore, thematching procedure of battery before delivery is needed. Currently, the producers ofbattery all adopt the way of comparing matching, namely to discharge the battery afterfully charged. Battery matching instruments can measure the voltage of each battery.Battery will stop after discharging for a certain time. To record the voltage of each batterythrough manual work, and match the batteries with approximate voltage, which makes thework overload. And the one-sided way of comparing makes the result unsatisfactory.This paper rooted from the current matching way of battery producers. Considering thehigh cost of matching equipments, this paper designed a system which can monitor largebatch of single battery and match the battery automatically according to the data collected.This system is based on embedded system developed by STM32F207VC, consists of uppercomputer, lower computer, voltage acquisition module, discharging equipment and RS-485communication module. The voltage acquisition module can collect the voltage of16single batteries in serial battery. This module adopts differential amplification circuitdesigned to solve the common ground problems during the measurement of serial batteryand makes an instruction on the instrument selection and parameter confirmation. The coreof lower computer is STM32F207VC with functions of voltage acquisition and modulustransformation. The lower computer software is written by C language. The core of uppercomputer is computer and written by C#programming language. It communicates with thelower computer through RS-485and receives and shows the voltage data sent by the lower computer in time, draws the discharging characteristic curve, analyze the collected batteryvoltage and matches automatically through battery dynamic matching way. This system issimple and affordable with high measuring accuracy. Through the experiment, it canconduct precise and reliable monitor and computer intelligent automatic matching on serialbattery under the main performance index without any inconvenience brought by manualmatching.
