It is well known that the mechanical behavior of the semi-rigid beam-to-columnend-plate joints of steel frame is very complex, and joints in the steel frame structurecan largely affect the strength, stiffness and stability of the whole structure, so makesure the safe and reliable of joints in practical engineering is vital. In the design ofsteel structure in our country is often the assumption joints as rigid or hinged for thejoints, but the actual beam-to-column end-plate joints is semi-rigid joints in steelstructure, the method of design for the steel structure seismic design is very bad.Although many researchers at home and abroad have carried on a great deal of testand finite element research, analysis and improvement of semi-rigid beam-to-columnjoints, but research the mechanical behavior and mechanism of the extendedbeam-to-column end-plate joints are less, furthermore to study the influence ofdifferent factors on the relatively less. In this paper, on the basis of the predecessors, through the finite element method comprehensive and systematic research themechanical behavior and mechanism of the extended beam-to-column end-plate joints, the main research contents are as follows:(1)The first, refer to the test results of predecessors, established the correspondingmodel as experiment and carried on the nonlinear analysis calculation of finiteelement, the calculated results contrast to experimental results, and verify themechanical behavior results of the finite element simulate the extendedbeam-to-column end-plate joints are reliability and validity, and analyzes andsummarizes the causes of deviation both comparisons.(2)The second, the research on under the with and without the column web platestiffener, with and without end-plate stiffener and different thickness of end platedifferent conditions, the corresponding model is established under the action of staticloading and cyclic loading. and analyze the affection of different types of paddingplate on initial rotational stiffness, ultimate bearing capacity, the Angle, the principalstress flow, hysteretic performance, joints failure pattern and various related curve ofmechanical behavior, and put forward suggestions for the rational engineering design.(3)The third, on the basis of the finite element calculation, again according to theEuropean steel structure specification (EC2) component stiffness method carried outtheoretical calculation of the extended beam-to-column end-plate joints, and comparethe theoretical calculation results and finite element calculation results.
