With the quick increasing of the freeway, the freeway net has extended in every province.The development of the traffic control technology has indicated that, the better road networkcapacity and the higher road service level not only need to ensure the smooth of every sectionof the expressway, but also realize the smooth of the entire freeway net. The reasonablecontrol measures for traffic control of expressway can smooth the traffic flow, eliminate thehuddle and relieve the congestion. That’s the basic premise to make sure the freeway netoperates efficiently, fast, safety and orderly. After analyzing both domestic and foreignfreeway traffic control technologies, this paper proposes a collaborative control method ortechnique of regional freeway net. This study also builds the control models and demonstratesits validity by simulation examples.Firstly, after analyzing the relationship between the basic parameters of the traffic flow,as well as the type and scope of the applicable traffic flow model,this paper create highwaymacroscopic dynamic traffic flow forecasting model,which is the basis of the freewayvariable speed control,based on the RBF neural network. The verification of traffic flowforecasting model is based on the data of Yusui freeway.Secondly, for it is hard to describe freeway variable speed control character whenconsidering its nonlinear, time-varying and multi-factors feature, so the usage on fuzzy neuralnetwork can implement the model of freeway variable speed control to forecast the restrictionof freeway,which based on historical data of traffic flow and road environment character.This model is the simulation target of the direct control layer which belongs to the regionalfreeway net collaborative control model. Considering the variable speed control method can’tget rid of the traffic jam, it is important to make the start condition of traffic guide, theefficiency analysis and calculation of demand on traffic guide as three tips to support theresearch of traffic guide system.Finally, large system multilevel hierarchical control theory is used to establish the modelof collaborative control theory of regional freeway net. After designing three control structures to coordinate multiple sections of the road network to achieve coordinated controlto calculate speed limit and traffic density which have been controlled under expectations byadjusting neural network parameter which described the closeness of real traffic density andcritical density time after time.According to the existing freeway vehicle detector data in Shaanxi province and usingMatlab software to design the simulation models, the simulations verify that the predictedvalues can quickly fit the actual measured values while be able to meet the requirementperformance indicators.
