Grade crossings of ramp or connector line with the highway are important components ofservice interchange. The grade crossing design is of great importance for not only the capacityand service level of intersections but also for the function of the whole service-orientedinterchange. However the study of the channeling design method and applicability of thegrade crossings between the ramp or connector line of the service-oriented interchange andthe local highway is little, so the paper tries to study the problem. The research results aremore important theoretical and practical significance to ensure the driving safety and roadcapacity of the whole service-oriented interchange and the crossing area.On the basis of summarizing the common form of service-oriented interchange, thispaper determines the T-shaped grade crossings between ramp or connector line fromservice-oriented interchanges and local roads as research models. Then analyse the trafficcharacteristics of T-shaped grade crossings between the ramp or connector line, based on theanalysis of grade crossing safety influence factors, combing traffic characteristics of thedifferent levels of road. Considering the purposes and principles of intersection channelizationdesign, this paper studies the T-shaped intersection channelization methods, and classifiesthese different channelization methods. Then adaptability of different levels of channelizing isset. Intersections channelization between different grade highway and connector line has beenstudied. Using a microcosmic traffic software VISSIM to simulate respectively the planecrossing traffic situations before and after the channelization. By establishing correspondingevaluation indicators system and building plane crossing traffic running situation evaluationmodel to evaluate the rationality of channelization methods. Eventually determines reasonableintersection channelization methods for the ramp and local road cross regional, achieved theoptimization of the plane crossing region to reduce traffic accidents in this area. The end ofthe paper is about the current situation of the traffic problems in highway interchange betweenramp and local. And the improvement measures of the immediate and long-term are putforward.
