EPS (Electric Power Steering System), a kind of new steering power technology, whichconforms to the modern automobile development direction, represents the developmentdirection of automotive power steering technology. Its application is spreading from theoriginal mini-cars to luxury cars, sports cars and off-road vehicles as well as commercialvehicles. EPS has wide prospects for development, In order to promote the development andapplication the technology of EPS, it is an effective method to do research on EPS testplatform, which can ensure the development of essential test. This paper carries out the Studyof EPS test technology for commercial vehicles, and this topic has practical value andpractical significance.The paper mainly carries out development and research of EPS test-bed for commercialvehicles. Firstly we analyses the EPS performance evaluation methods and control strategies,to establish the basic theory for the test bed. After analyzing the characteristics of commercialvehicle and through the study of domestic and foreign commercial vehicle EPS test-bed, therequirements of the EPS test platform, overall framework of test bench and main technicalindicators were all determined. Then, we selected and matched the loading mechanism, loadtransmission mechanism, and other major parts of the matching selection and performance ofEPS test-bed, and described the main items of the EPS test-platform. Also, the paperintroduced the design of the main control circuit of EPS. In addition to using Delphi softwarefor test-bed program designing, the paper Completed the measurement and control systemsoftware design, completed the test bench test preparation, data acquisition, motion control,test data analysis and processing, and other display program, and motor control testingprocedures that is the core of the EPS and fault detection program has been designed. Themain tests of the EPS platform verified the performance of the test bench, and test benchdesigned can meet the expected requirements. Through this research, provides the basistheory for the development of vehicle EPS test-platform.
