Road roughness affects the vehicle ride comfort, and it is the biggest excitationsource when the vehicle is moving. How to get the road roughness informationaccurately and build the road roughness virtual input model is the key issue in vehicledynamics simulation. In the paper, the road roughness data is obtained by the test, andthen the reconstruction of3D virtual road is built by the data and analysis of vehicleride comfort simulation is done.In the paper, the road roughness test is conducted by the DAPRES roadroughness tester, and road roughness data and vertical acceleration data is obtained byvehicle ride comfort test. Based on the triangular mesh and roughness data of the testroad,2005nodes and3200triangle units of road is done with the MATLAB software,then the3D virtual road is built and imported to the ADAMS software. A vehicledynamics model is built in ADAMS include suspension system, steering system,vehicle body system and tire model. At last, with the vehicle ride comfort test, a ridecomfort simulation test is done in ADAMS and the time-acceleration curve isacquired.Compared the simulation results and vehicle test results, and with the MATLABsoftware to compute the acceleration root mean square value, we can see that therelative error between the simulation and the vehicle test is13%when the speed is50km/h and9.7when the speed is80km/h. The results show that the vehicle ridecomfort simulation based on the reconstruction of3D road surface is highly consistentwith the vehicle ride comfort test.
