A lot of gas enter the atmosphere will cause air pollution, and it is a waste ofenergy. If underground operations machines can use gas as fuel, so it not only cansolve the pollution problems of gas emissions, but also to take advantage of gas,reduce energy waste. This paper use the Gas Engine to instead Gasoline engine,research on what changes in engine performance when it fueled gas with differentconcentrations of methane. And also do the optimization analysis for compressionratio and ignition timing, do explosion-proof experiments on engine ignition sourceand the surface temperature of the porous material. So that we can meet therequirements of the engine mine Explosion-proof, and provide a reference for thesafety of Gas Engine’s operations in mine.This paper use the engine working process simulation software--GT-POWER toestablish a relatively accurate model of Gasoline engine, establish ethane and butanefuel bank to complete the gas fuel bank. And then use the available Gasoline enginemodels to test the what changes in engine performance of Gas Engine when it fueledgas with different concentrations of methane. On the other hand,the paper alsoimproved compression ratio and ignition advance angle according to the combustioncharacteristics,in order to get a more comprehensive analysis. The simulationanalysis provided a theoretical basis for the future experimental research.According to the explosion-proof requirements of engine. Conduct experimentson engine ignition source and surface temperature by using porous material. Theresults of fire retardant experiment show that porous materials flame arrester can letthe combustible mixture through effectively, and extinguish the flame produced byexplosion. The results of heat insulation experiment show that a suitable thickness ofthe porous material to insulate heat of the surface temperature of the engine can meetthe standard engine explosion, and provide a reference for the gas engine’slightweight Explosion-proof.
