In recent years, because of the light weight, small horizontal force and multiplestructures, the steel arch bridge was extensively used in bridge construction. It also be theideal bridge of long-span and light structure. But with the change of construction sites, theconstruction conditions were different. The northwest was cold and arid regions, so it had abig temperature between day and night, it also had a high wind speed, which bringsproblems to bridge construction. Due to various reasons, this region had never conductedsimilar large span bridge construction project. It’s necessary to provide the correspondingconstruction methods and suggestions on the construction in cold and arid regions, whichcan also ensure the quality of bridge construction and structural safety.The construction methods of steel arch bridge mainly consist of support method、cantilever construction method、rotation construction method、cable construction methodand integral lifting method. The first four construction methods of arch rib had a long timein the air. Then the high wind speed in northwestern region was disadvantage of the stress ofarch rib. We choose a suitablecrane tower height and a reasonable numbers and location oflifting points which can ensure the arch rib had a good deformation and stress in the processof lifting at the certain construction scheme. We had a reinforcement calculation at the localof arch rib and provided the corresponding reinforcement measures at local stressconcentration areas of arch rib. We had a stability calculation in integral lifting and reverseof arch rib and ensure the stability can meet the specification requirements. In this paper, theresearch had enriched the construction method in cold and arid regions about steel boxhandle-basket arch bridge. It can provide the new experience at the similar areas of bridgeconstruction lifting. The analysis of this subject research also has certain theoretical andpractical value. It will play a role in the national promotion and development at the integrallifting method of the arch rib.
