Research On The Zhangzhou Earliest Modern Arcade Buildings’ Facade

Zhangzhou arcade building is the earliest modern arcade in Fujian Province. Theresearch of modern arcade facades has an important significance in understanding thesouthern Fujian’s evolution of architectural styles and the regional features.Fromsegment analysis method of arcade facades in Taiwan,by using field survey andstatistical analysis method, the article extends to analysis Zhangzhou modern arcadefacades’ composition in quantitative way.In the street level,arcades’concept in general sense is a special form of organizationof the construction near the street.embodies the combination of modern foreign streetplanning model and traditional street house.The arcades’ construction was synchronizedwith the road widening and the transformation of the old city. It was a way of thetraditional street house reconstruction.In the arcade single level,the traditional face of street house in Zhangzhou waslast.There ate three materials choice:wood,red brick and cement,and the traditionalwood and red brick were more used.According to the different materialcombinations,there are five arcade type:Pure red brick arcade,brick wood arcade,brickplastering arcade, pure cement arcade and special style arcade.In the vertical component level,Zhangzhou arcades have the characteristics of simpleand less decoration.From the decorative point,the components can be divided into twokinds.One is decorative component, one is structural member.The decorativecomponent has a strong decorative and ornament effect,make the facade is moredelicate..The structural member do not has a strong decorative effect.But differentcomponent will form different arcade facade features.Taking one with another,Zhangzhou arcade is the multi-choice and evolvement offoreign culture and bases on the tradition,combines the foreign high technology withrural low technology and develops a fit way for region.To study multiform regionalarchitecture,digest foreign advanced technology.multivariate expansion and integratedsymbiosis is the important study direction of regional architecture developmentcurrently.
