Historically, the evolution of the city can’t be attributed to a single purpose. Theold city has historical depth and complex culture, which the master plan could nevercompare to. Unfortunately, all the transformation directly sentenced the old city todeath with erasing the urban texture in China. Xiagang Area is the cradle of humancivilization and fishery in Amoy. It is a typical of the urban spatial morphology inAmoy.Multiple accumulations endow Xiagang Area with profound culture andinformal urban morphology. With development of the city, Xiagang is facing urbanrenewal. Therefore, the research on Xiagang Area is indeed necessary. The traditional methods depend on clear and unique sample. It is good at dealingwith the distinct personality block. The old city areas in China are multiple hybrid. They are intertwined and confounding, which is difficult to separate them from eachother. How to come to the essence through the chaos is a problem. Each house has its "identity card" in the city. Doorplates accommodate allthe changes in the streets. In this research the administrator takes up the cumulativetime variable--" doorplate "as the starting point.By summing up the characteristicsof houses’ names and numbers, the author tries to retell the evolution of the oldcity and to explore the evolution patterns and motives of urban spatial morphologyevolution. The author discusses the relation between the land using, urban blocks, land division, urban texture and summarizes the urban spatialmorphology evolution rules and the inner contradiction and motivation mechanismof Xiagang Area.
