In this paper, the optimization design on scale-based product family was studied and theintegrated optimization design model and solving method was put forward to optimize the scale-based product family.(1) The integrated optimization design model on scale-based product family was presented.Classification method for optimization design of product family was analyzed. Based on the ideaof forming product family from existing product instance, the integrated optimization model andsolving method of product family were put forward to decomposing the complicated optimizationproblem into sub problems which was the main research idea of this paper.(2) The solving method of multi-objective optimization was studied. The optimization designmethod of scale-based product family without product platform was put forward. The optimizationdesign model was established and the solving method was presented with a focus on progressivelyhandling equality constraint conditions based on non-dominated sorting in genetic algorithms,which was the basis of product family integrated optimization.(3) The optimization of product family with the unknown values of product platform wasstudied to get the optimal performance of product family. The optimization design model wasestablished on the result of the optimization results without product platform and the solvingmethod was improved including chromosome encoding, crossover and mutation.(4) The integrated optimization design on scale-based product family was studied. Theoptimization design model was established with each performance equal as commonality and thesolving method was presented based on non-dominated sorting in genetic algorithms to find theoptimization solution with commonality as high as possible on the Pareto front of product family’sperformance.
