More and more people pay attentions to a healthy way for relaxing, with the riseof the modern society’s development and the pressure of life, the resort of hot springis becoming one of new popular domains for meeting this demand for thedevelopment of the society. However, the lack of the distinct regional culture makesthe resorts of hot spring in our country hard to satisfy the expanding demand on thespiritual aspects, and harder to compete in the same domain with some otherdeveloped countries.The writer has been exchanging to Ecole Nationale Supérieure Architecture deNancy in France for the second year during the master study, and visited some Frenchresorts of hot spring with remarkable regional cultures. Facing the differences of theresorts of hot spring between China and France, this article starts with the historicaldevelopment and is based on the theory of the architectural comparison, representingthe planning compositions and spatial features on the Chinese and French resorts ofhot spring, and making brief analysis on the origins and backgrounds of thesedifferences.We could find by the comparisons of the cases and the researches of the currentsituations: Both the resorts of hot spring in the two countries aim to combine themedical and vocational effects, while the service products and qualities are different,hence we can bring up the current problems; On the planning composition, bothconcentrate on the energy-conservation and environment-protection, while theinfluences of different history and culture make the Chinese system of the resort ofhot spring independent,but make the French system open;On the spatial feature,bothtry to express the regional thermal culture by the architectural materials andlandscapes,but with different practical approaches and points of view.This article also tries to offer a window for the information on the resort of hotspring in France--one of occidental developed countries, besides, we hope to find ourdefects and limits, and to struggle for a higher level through the comparisons ofmodern resorts of hot spring in China and France.
