As the main backup power, lead-acid batteries play an important role in variousindustries. However, due to the lack of proper maintenance methods, most of lead-acidbatteries can not achieve their design life and retire in advance. This situation will lead to anincrease in operating costs of enterprises.Aiming at the current maintenance of the lead-acid batteries on CDMA bases, the thesisanalyses the main reasons for the failure of the lead-acid batteries, puts forward the equipmentfor detecting the parameters of batteries and develops the remote control platform to realizethe simultaneous motoring of the battery working states on the base. With the data analysis,the automatic maintaining and restoring can be achieved not only, but also the scientific andrational maintenance recommendations can be provided to enterprises so as to improve theirdecision-making abilities.The main work of the thesis is as follows:1. Based on the current situation on base, the solution and a framework of lead-acidbatteries remote monitoring system are introduced and the role and advantages of the systemare analyzed.2. According to the battery work environment, an equipment is designed to acquire thevoltage, current, temperature and other parameters of the batteries in real-time. The datatransmission and remote control functions are realized as well.3. Combining lead-acid battery charge and discharge characteristics and taking theimpact of the battery real-time work status into account, a novel battery performance decisionalgorithm is proposed for the assessment of battery life and charge ability.4. With the application of programming, the system is developed which can carry out thebattery operation status monitor, remote control, abnormal working conditions alert,performance analysis and decision-making.The whole system has been applied in some CDMA bases successfully. Its operationresult proves that the system can improve the lead-acid battery working life and themaintenance efficiency of the batteries on the base effectively, hence reducing themaintenance cost.
