:In this thesis, the rubber concrete was taken as the research target. The strength class of concrete containing rubber particles is higher than C30and the characteristics of the concrete researched are low elasticity modulus and high toughness.In this paper,0.36and0.40were selected as the wate/cement ratio. The sizes of rubber particles were1-3mm named A and3-5mm named B and the fine aggregate was replaced in equal volume with four different dosage of0%,10%,15%,20%. Apparent density test, mechanical performance tests(cubic compressive strength, tensile splitting strength, prism compressive strength and elasticity modulus) were conducted on rubber concrete (RC).Appropriate modify agent was selected to treat the two kinds of rubber particles for improving the performance of rubber concrete. The water/cement ratio and mixing method of modified rubber concrete (MRC) were as the same as RC.The concrete in this paper can meet the research demands of strength and toughness under the condition of appropriate dosage. The optimum content of rubber particles in RC36-A, RC36-B and RC40-A, RC40-B is20%,15%,10%,20%respectively. The optimum content of rubber particles in MRC36-A, MRC36-B and MRC40-A MRC40-B is20%,20%,20%and10%respectively.With the increase in dosage of rubber particles, apparent density decrease. The decrease degree of RC with fine rubber particles is obvious than RC with coarse rubber particles. With the increase of water/cement ratio, apparent density increase.With the increase in dosage of rubber particles, the compressive strength, prism compressive strength and elasticity modulus decrease, but the decrease degree is not identical.The effect of modify agent Y is better than modify agent X. The cubic compressive strength of MRC is higher than RC. The performance of MRC with fine rubber particles treated with modify agent Y is better than MRC with coarse rubber particles treated with the same modify agent.The results of the microstructure observation of concrete containing rubber particles indicate that rubber particles can reduce the generation and development of crack in concrete. There are grooves between the torn rubber particles and cement matrix. This phenomenon indicates that the bonding condition between rubber particles and cement matrix is not well.
