| ABSTRACT:There are many problems about current existing wayfinding signage in city blocks, such as insufficiently function and information confusing, which can not meet people’s increasing information needs of traveling. In order to relieve pressure on the pedestrian wayfinding and inject new energy to people’s trip, this thesis provides efficient and vivid information and function to build a new concept of urban intelligent wayfinding signage by the integration of intelligent technology. Beijing CBD is selected as a pilot environment, literature research and field study are used to explore the relationship between people and space within a certain region to identify needs and influencing factors of human wayfinding. By combining relevant theory, this thesis systematically constructs intelligent wayfinding signage in the aspects of information, function and pattern. Then, the thesis focuses on illustrating the design and use of the visual elements, which includes text, graphics, symbols and colour. Finally, the thesis concludes universal design principles of intelligent wayfinding signage and prospect what role intelligent wayfinding signage will play in urban space. Through the design and study of this thesis, fundamental designing principles and development direction of intelligent wayfinding signage can be concluded, which provides reference for specific designing in the future. |
