With the increasing economic power of our country, the highways in mid-easternChina have continually progressed and mass highway construction has been shifted tounderdeveloped areas in western China. As one of the most significant parts in westernmountain areas, tunnels are widely used under this under complex terrain, whichpossesses the advantages of overcoming terrain restriction and height restriction acrossobstacles, roadline optimization, shortening the mileage and improving service level ofhighway. Growing tunnels result in increasing serious energy consumption problems intunnels and lighting facilities consume the most energy. Tunnel lighting consumption isthe most representative one. As the energy consumption can be reduced to a great extentunder safe driving circumstance, the optimized tunnels lighting design is of greatsignificance.Supported by Lushan Tunnel in Yunnan province, this paper improved the tunnellighting energy saving technology and discusses the design based on new-type materialdecorating materials which have high reflection characteristics. First, analyze theselection criterion of tunneling decorating materials, then research the present domesticdecorating materials types, and last summarize their advantages and disadvantages;based on contrast test of self-lighting material and other traditional materials, such ascement mortar and white fire retardant coating, study the change laws of illuminancequality standard of tunnel pavement and inner wall, such as brightness, evenness andlongitudinal evenness; improving the inner decorating material, paving inner wall withself-lighting energy-storage material and utilize its high-reflection property to optimizelighting effect aided by pavement and inner wall.The results are as follows.First, new-type decorating material has highest synergy ratio can improve thequality standard uncommonly.Second, after analyzing the driver’s detection distance to smaller goals andchanging rules of pupil diameter with SMART EYE, we find that with these materialspeople’s eyes have best visual performance, and safety and comfort also reach highestlevel; new-type decorating materials possess self-lighting property. Third, based on new-type decorating material’s afterglow brightness and time,evaluate its safety serving effect to tunnels.
