With the improvement of manufacturing technology of test instrument, theaccuracy and reliability of test equipments have been greatly improved. Aiming atthe shortages of conventional test equipments in complex structure, relatively highcost etc, a pin-on-disk sliding friction coefficient test instrument was designed basedon basis of solid tribology principles by our research team. The qualitycharacteristics of instrumentation should be ensured before mass production whichusually include performance, reliability, safety, economy and so on. While reliabilityis dominant in these quality characteristics which is an important index to reflect thedynamic quality of the products. For a product, reliability is closely related to itssafety and economic benefits. Therefore, the research on the reliability of testequipment is very significant in social and economic values. The major content ofthis dissertation is as follows.(1) The background and significance of this research work were illustrated aswell as the research status of its at home and abroad. The function and structure offriction test instrument and its reliability requirements were analyzed respectively.Based on these, the main content and organizational structure of this thesis werepresented.(2) The basic theory and analysis method of reliability were researched.Combining with the function and structure features of friction test instrument, thereliability analysis method of friction test instrument was proposed based onreliability unit. And then the reliability index of it proposed and correspondingalgorithm was designed as well.(3) According to the function partition of friction test instrument, the fault treemodel of each subsystem was set up through top-down analysis based on fault treeanalysis technique. The least cut sets of instrument system were obtained throughfault tree analysis. This provide the evidences for improving the weak links offriction test instrument. At the same time, the failure modes of friction test instrument were investigated by using a bottom-up approach. The fault reasons andits influence were analyzed. And the corresponding improvement measures ofimproving the reliability of friction test instrument were put forward in the end.(4) Beside the theoretical researches, the verify analysis was performed on apin-on-disk sliding friction coefficient test instrument developed by our researchteam. And then the practical guiding result was obtained.Finally, the research contents and results of the dissertation were summarized,and the direction and contents of further study were explored.
