A Study On The Subject Evolvement Of Modern Urban Planning Theory And Practice

With the deepening of the reform and opening up, a market economy has been established. The city-building activities become a game of local government, developers and the public, which was the responsibility of government. From the perspective of historical research, the research tries to solve the issue who is the subject of urban planning.This study analyzes the development and evolution of the Western urban planning theory and practice, to summarize and generalize the evolution of planning subject. This thesis considers that the evolution of modern Western urban planning subject is associated phenomenon of modern Western society. Different social backgrounds, political institutions and economic environment lead to the emergence of diversified planning body and the evolution of the planning body. Evolution of the urban planning subject manifests as change of subject type, the content involved in planning and behavior of the planning body, Changes in the relationship between diversified planning body and various awareness and social status of planning body itself. The subject change has resulted in changes of planning theory and planning system.In the evolution of urban planning subject review, the thesis developed an analysis method of urban planning theory from the view of planning subject. Therefore, the study concludes that urban planning subject should become the basic concept of the urban planning theory to build, and put forward an urban planning theory based on the subject of people. Finally, the thesis attempts to construct a framework of people-based planning theory.
