After the cold rain and snow freeze disaster2008a500kV substations installed dc melting ice and SVC (Static Var Compensator) device. After the500kV substation measuring known TCR loss is bigger, because no network loss calculation of thyristor valve at home and abroad industry standard, IEEE Std1031-2011for equipment type selection reference of the loss of thyristor valve group, with thyristor valve group of actual loss value gap is bigger, not as a loss of substation computing thyristor valve group standards. In this paper the thyristor valve group and the loss of reactor were studied.This paper proposes a new algorithm for the thyristor valve group on state loss. The new algorithm using a more precise thyristor voltage drop model, new formula of thyristor valve on state loss calculated value significantly lower than the recommended by IEEE Std1031-2011loss of thyristor valve group conducting state formula calculated value, so the new algorithm improves a lot than the IEEE Std1031-2011recommended formula. The thyristor valve group damping loss formula for the theoretical derivation, find out the thyristor valve group of damping loss causes of deviation. For thyristor valve group blocking state loss is small, the domestic and foreign literature and the related standard only mentioned the thyristor valve group blocking state loss less, no points out that the blocking state loss calculation formula. This paper obtained by theoretical derivation formula of blocking state loss, with a example confirmed that the blocking state loss less than230W. For reactor loss another calculation formula is deduced, the calculation method of using reactor’s the average current and the loss of IEEE Std1031-2011reactor is recommended formula used reactor the effective value of current, the calculation results is less than the IEEE Std1031-2011recommended formula percentage3%, and the two with RTDS (Real Time Digital Simulator) simulation values are very close. This paper using RTDS building model simulation, the substation RTDS simulation includes power device simulation and control part simulation. The power device simulation can be subdivided into500kV power grid side of simplified simulation model and SVC simulation (converter transformer simulation model and TCR branch simulation model and fixed capacitor group simulation model); SVC control section simulation includes bus voltage measurement simulation model, simulation models of SVC active, reactive power measurement, simulation models of PI controller, thyristor conduction Angle simulation calculation, the trigger module etc. Through the simulation verify the rationality of the formula is deduced.
