There is no system description about seismic design methods of portal frameinter-column support in our present specifications, while the structure is more andmore widely used in the high intensity region in recent years, thus the study on theseismic performance of inner-column support is in urgent need. This paper studies theinfluence of column base connection mode, slenderness ratio and width to thicknessratio of the supporting rod, purlin, wall panel, steel support, support layout positionand other factors on the seismic performance of inner-columns support by usingANSYS.The main conclusions are as follows: The slenderness ratio and width to thicknessratio of supporting rod, section, connection details and wall panel are the main factorfor the inter-column support seismic performance; the energy dissipation ability ofinter-column support is poor but deformation ability is good and it has an obviousslip; energy consumption ability will be worse and deformation ability will be betterwith the increasing slenderness ratio and width to thickness ratio of supporting rod;the failure of inter-column support is manly due to the local buckling of supportingrod; the stiffness of strut should be considered when calculating the natural vibrationperiod but it could be neglect when the longitudinal displacement of structural; theinter-column bracing can be designed according to the method of pull rod withlimiting the slenderness ratio of brace; the inter-column support should be designed asa whole together with the column; round steel support is not suitable for high intensityplant.
