V-cone flowmeter is a kind of differential pressure flowmeter model.Compared with thetraditional differential pressure flowmeter,it has many advantages, such as its high precisionand good repeatability, wide range, small pressure loss, etc..V-cone flowmeter can exert itsobvious advantages especially in some special applications, such as waste incineration powergeneration, coke oven gas, offshore oil field moisture measurement,etc..There are a lot ofresearchs on characteristics of V-cone flowmeter. The researchs shows that the geometricparameters of cone has obvious effect on the characteristics of V-cone flowmeter, especially onthe internal flow field and outflow coefficient. But the unified standard of the V-coneflowmeter has not determine yet,so the research on V-cone flowmeter is very meaningful. The purpose of this paper is to analysis the outflow coefficient affected by Reynoldsnumber and the geometry of the cone. We made a numerical simulation of the V-coneflowmeter,used non-newtonian power law fluid instead of a Newtonian fluid as fluidsimulation medium, used Fluent for numerical calculation on several groups of differentgeometric parameters of V-cone flowmeter, got the simulation data, analysised the main factorswhich influenced the flow coefficient of V-cone flowmeter in the final. The main contentsinclude three parts:computational fluid dynamics simulation, data collection and data analysisand empirical formula fitting.First, using Fluent software to calculate the internal flow field in V-cone flowmeter.Themain contents include establishing3D geometric model in SolidWorks software, selecting theturbulence model, the paper used the Realizable k-ε turbulence model. According to thesimulation data, we analys the impacts effect on outflow coefficient of V-cone flowmeter.Second, through the analysis of simulation results, we can found the following rules: Thedischarge coefficient of V cone flowmeter associated with the Reynolds number, equivalentdiameter ratio and front cone angle. The larger the Reynolds number, the larger outflowcoefficient is, but it tends to a constant; The outflow coefficient decreases with the increase ofthe equivalent diameter ratio and decreases with the increase of the front cone angle; Thebehind cone angle has little effect on the coefficient.Third,we use the simulation data to fit a curve in the MATLAB software and getempirical formula about the inner diameter, equivalent diameter ratio, the front and back coneangle.
