In order to meet the increasing demand of electric power load in Beijing Haidian District, a new500kV Haidian substation needs to be built on the north side of the Yongding River Diversion Canal. The two-way power supply of the substation comes from the500kV Mentougou substation and the500kV Changping substation. From the2substations to the new500kV cable terminal station is overhead line. From the500kV cable terminal station to the500kV Haidian substation is500kV XLPE cable. Haidian500kV cable project started in November,2013, and plans to do handover test in2014. The cable power line are all in tunnel, the path length of each way is about6.5km.The mode of using testing equipment to do withstand voltage test in long distance500kV XLPE cable lines accompanied by synchronous partial discharge detection has no precedent in domestic yet. Based on the Haidian500kV cable project and the test results of400kV,500kV and so on high voltage level cable line in international and domestic, this paper, through elaborate research and analysis, excogitates AC voltage test system design and the main parameters,and carries out the demonstration of major equipment. In addition, this paper also analyses the structure characteristics of this project’s cable line and accessories, points out the test mode of partial discharge detection, and carries out the demonstration of partial discharge detection equipment.Through analysis, using the resonant frequency mode to do AC withstand voltage test on Haidian500kV cable lines is feasible. In order to ensure the safe and reliable operation of cable lines and electric power grid, doing the partial discharge detection test for all cable connections while making the voltage withstand test is necessary, and also completely feasible. According to the test standard of1.7Uo,1h, through the demonstration of German High Equipment,4sets equipment can be able to complete the voltage test of this project cable lines. Through analysis and verification, the equipment produced by Italy TechImp Company and Beijing XingDi Company can be used to synchronize the500kV cable project’s partial discharge detection test. The mode of using resonant frequency to do withstand voltage test in long distance500kV XLPE cable lines accompanied by synchronous partial discharge detection for all cable connections provides valuable experience for the handover test in long distance500kV XLPE cable lines.
