Along with the improvement of national economic development level and quality of life,the power consumption rising sharply.Ensure the power of people's production and living play an important role to the national economic development.Shanghai as the international metropolis,besides requires reliable power supply and high quality service,but also hope the ground space "full web" disappear gradually,the city can be more and more beautiful.Compared with the overhead line,power cable has easy installation,easy maintenance,no space corridor etc and become the only choice.With the continuous development and progress of science and technology,the kinds of power cable has been optimized,had played more and more important function in transmission and distribution network.In theory,power cable is pure material,it is manufactured in the pure environment condition,and its insulation structure,size error is very small.Under the altered electric field situation,the distribution of internal electric field is more homogeneous.The external environment factors and artificial factors have small influence on cable,the cable have a higher safety and reliability.But according to the actual operation data statistics,power cable often occur fault inevitably in the process of running because of a variety of reasons.Study also found that the failures of power cable system(including ontology and accessories)are not any signs and they can be found in advance.In its electrical insulating performance,there will be insulated ontology partial discharge at the same time,abnormal temperature of problems par and so on.Power cable partial discharge and its insulation condition are related closely.Changes of the partial discharge often herald the power cable insulation have some shortcomings.If allowed it continue developing,it will lead to the power cable fault eventually.On the basis of a brief introduction to classification and structure,cable fault type and causes,test method,partial discharge related principle,this paper introduces a set of damped oscillation wave of partial discharge detection and location system(OWTS)experiment in practice due to the power cable partial discharge and its insulation condition is closely related,then it is applied on 35 kV XLPE cables.On one hand,through the test can verify the feasibility of technical,on the other hand it can record the various data of the tested cable,such as partial discharge inception voltage and the overall measures,etc.It can gradually establish cable line insulation information related files,so that it can understand the cable operation fast and accurately in the future work.The detected signals that more than background of sporadic discharge in the experiment can also be a follow-up attention.On a regular basis include the retest of discharge,tracking bureau development trend,it will provide reliable basis for the safe and stable operation of the power cable.
