Ring main unit(RMU) in Substation is commonly founded flashover due to the condensation, and the possible presence of sulfur hexafluoride gas leaks and other potential factors that threaten to the personal safety and the life of equipment. The paper develops the RMU operating environment monitoring device at these ponits.This article discusses the research,development and practice of RMU operating environment monitoring device based on ZigBee wireless communication technology and CPLD technology.First, this article introduced the used detection methods of sulfur hexafluoride gas,CPLD technology and wireless networking technology,especially the development and application of ZigBee technology at home and abroad; the basic principles of ultrasonic measurement of binary gas through CPLD,the methods of communication between each part.In the part of hardware,this article details the ideas and reasons of selection and design about components usded in some important hardware of the system:temperature and humidity detection module,SF6gas concentration detection module and the centralized controller. And also introduced the methods to anti-interference in circuit design.In the part of software, this article describes ideas about the commucation with ZigBee throught the temperature and humidity detection module,SF6gas detection module and the data centralized controller,as well as general processes.Finally, the device is installed at an substation.This article describes the measurement accuracy; acquisition, control and disposal of the corresponding exception.
