Performance assessment can diagnose and determine the problems of the control system, which exerts great importance in improving the efficiency of the control loops. Based on the most widely used minimum variance, this paper proposes a new method. Combined with incremental PI controller and generalized minimum variance, this method achieves the most proper parameters on the basis of one-step random disturbance, through which the theoretical minimum variance is obtained. The theoretical minimum variance being the standard, the paper computes the theoretical number and the estimated number under current PI controller in case of one-step disturbance. The effectiveness of the method is proved by a simulation study and300MW thermal power unit operation data of superheater.Automatic generation control,one of the basic and important functions of modern grid control, keeps the system frequency and regional power exchange between a certain interval which ensures the economical running of the system. Based on the research of current calculation method of AGC power unit, this paper selects valid computation intervals to compute parameters such as regulation speed and regulation accuracy in order to make an accurate estimation of the adjusting efficiency of AGC unit.
